Highly Visual Laminated Timber for Wellness Retreat Centre Pergolas

Located in the South Island of New Zealand, Aro Hā is just a short drive from Queenstown. The project was managed by Triple Star Project Management and designed by Tennent + Brown Architects, and as the building was to be exposed, it needed a highly visual timber product as its structure.

Techlam offered an ideal solution utilising Visual Appearance Grade Laminated Timber. Working with Triple Star Project Management, Techlam pre-assembled the entire structure in its plant beforehand, to ensure it would be a perfect fit on site, before being disassembled and packaged for delivery.

All knife plates and hardware were checked and tested for correct fit prior to leaving the plant, and the timber was successfully delivered to the site and assembled with no issues.

The final result is stunning and the group of buildings blend perfectly with the surroundings. The structural laminated timber has been left natural, and over time has developed an appealing patina which further integrates the structures into the natural environment.

Visual Appearance Grade Glulam provides projects with a high quality finish and is suitable for any application where timber is exposed to view.
