Designed by Warren and Mahoney to focus on the holistic shift in managing the wellbeing of dialysis patients and their families. Their client asked for a fit-for-purpose, value for money, environmentally responsible building. This project is now set to be the first healthcare building in New Zealand to achieve Zero Energy certification.
Belgotex used precision waterjet cutting to create the flooring inlay designs that consider Māori and Pasifika patients with inclusive and welcoming design features developed in collaboration with local iwi and Tihei design consultancy. Waterjet cutting presents you with infinite design possibilities.
Gerflor Mipolam Symbioz is GreenTag Certified and contains over 75% sustainable or renewable raw materials, including a 100% bio based plasticizer, made of residues from cereals (wheat, corn, etc). The floor covering is a non-emissive product (below the level of VOC measurement accuracy). Equipped with patented surface treatment, Evercare, which is obtained by UV laser cross-linking, the flooring offers excellent chemical resistance to products used in healthcare environment such as Betadine, eosin and hydro alcoholic solutions. This makes the flooring low maintenance and long lasting. The treatment also eliminates the need to apply acrylic emulsion throughout the lifetime of the product, whilst also providing excellent resistance to wear and tear in high traffic areas.
Belgotex products are manufactured with the health and environmental concerns of end users in mind, providing innovative design and environmentally friendly solutions.
Congratulations to all parties involved in the project, it is heartening to see the impact this building has had to staff, patients and the community of Taranaki along with the global accolades it continues to receive.
