Terreal — Terracotta Cladding
Description

Terracotta is a material with cutting-edge production techniques and industry leading performance in all requirements: manufacturing consistency, numerous colour variations, product customisation, ease of installation, versatility, insulation performance and environmental responsiveness.

Terreal Breeze is an extra slim (16mm) double skin rainscreen cladding system of small dimension (300 x 600mm module) with overlapping horizontal joints for reinforced protection.

Key Features

While other materials may challenge terracotta in some of these fields, few achieve all the following qualities:

  • Environmentally friendly and 100% natural
  • Fire and impact resistant
  • Durable, perennial and recyclable
  • Low thermal conductivity
  • Architectural and creative
  • Warm and lightweight
  • The substructure is designed to cope with New Zealand's high wind and high humidity conditions
  • Facades are thin and lightweight (from 30 kg/m²) and the wide cavity system achieves pressure-equalisation, exterior grade 50 year durability and extended detailing to comply with the required conditions for the project
Scope of Use
  • Suitable for use on new multi-level residential and commercial exterior facades
  • Upgrading/refurbishment of old existing facades
  • Where insulation is to be incorporated into the cavity (typically masonry walls)
  • Interior feature/acoustic walls (in combo with acoustic batt products)
  • All environments including coastal spray and geothermal zones, and earthquake prone areas
  • Breeze tiles are installed onto SPS's T series rail system, with cavity depths of 50-600mm possible
Statement of Building Code Compliance
  • The Terreal Breeze rainscreen system is an alternative solution to E2 of the NZBC. For building compliance, SPS can arrange a PS1 in consultation with a façade engineer.
  • Approved and tested for use on buildings with factored wind loads up to 2.38 kPa ULS wind pressure. For higher wind loads a site-specific approval will be required
  • The Breeze system is typically installed over Stamisol FA Building Textile, which provides a water resistant but vapour open membrane to protect the building structure. This can be used with or without or backer board compliant with Table 23 of NZBC/E2:2011 and NZS3604:2011
