  • ORCON should be used in addition to EXTORA for sealing overlaps on a roof pitch of less than 15 Degrees
  • KAFLEX or ROFLEX Grommets are used to seal around cable and pipe penetrations
  • TESCON NAIDEC Double sided butyl rubber tape, used as a nail sealing tape on the underside of a purlin / batten on roofs to form a durable seal around nail or screw penetrations

SOLITEX MENTO 1000 roll size: (75m²) 1.5m wide and 50m long

Key Features
  • Fire retardant
  • High performance monolithic nonporous membrane
  • High water resistance: water column more than 10,000 mm based on EN 20811
  • Low vapour resistance: very low MVTR with active vapour transport
  • High durability under all conditions: unaffected by wood preservatives
  • Thermostable: thermostability above 100°C
  • UV stabilised: can be exposed to the New Zealand elements for 30 days
Scope of Use

SOLITEX MENTO 1000 has been appraised for use as a self-supporting roof underlay on buildings within the following scope:

  • the scope of limitations of NZBC Acceptable Solution E2/AS1, Paragraph 1.1 with regards to building height and floor plan area; and,
  • with masonry tile roof cladding; and,
  • with metal tile and profiles metal roof cladding; and,
  • suited to NZS 3604 Wind Zones up to, and including Extra High.
Limitations on Use

SOLITEX MENTO 1000 provides a degree of temporary weather protection during early construction. This, however, does not guarantee weathertightness and some wetting of the underlying structure is always possible before the roof cladding is installed. Hence, the entire building must be closed in and made weatherproof before moisture sensitive materials such as ceiling linings and insulation materials are installed.

SOLITEX MENTO 1000 must not be exposed to the weather or ultra violet light for more than 30 days before being covered by the roof cladding.

Statement of Building Code Compliance

In the opinion of BRANZ, SOLITEX MENTO 1000, if used, designed, installed and maintained in accordance with the statements and conditions of Appraisal No.876 (2014), will meet, or contribute to meeting the following provisions of the NZBC:

  • Clause B2 DURABILITY: Performance B2.3.1(a), not less than 50 years, B2.3.1(b), 15 years and B2.3.2. SOLITEX MENTO 1000 meets these requirements.
  • Clause E2 EXTERNAL MOISTURE: Performance E2.3.2. When used as part of the roof cladding system, SOLITEX MENTO 1000 will contribute to meeting this requirement.
  • Clause F2 HAZARDOUS BUILDING MATERIALS: Performance F2.3.1. SOLITEX MENTO 1000 meets this requirement and will not present a health hazard to people.
