Dimond Natural Lighting
Description

Durolite natural lighting sheets for roofs and walls provide good strength and durability for commercial building applications. Durolite is a premium grade glass fibre reinforced polyester sheet manufactured using advanced gel coat technology with an integral 100 micron thick gel coat on the top surface. It is guaranteed to transmit natural light for a period of 25 years while retaining material strength and load span capacity.

Key Features
  • Available to match all Dimond steel profiles as well as many other metal roofing products.
  • Durolite is manufactured in a range of tints and specifications to suit customer requirements.

Durolite FireGuard

  • Durolite FireGuard 3 (FG3) has a bromine free formulation, has been developed to provide a natural lighting sheet, while meeting the fire requirements of the New Zealand Building Code (NZBC)
  • The internal surface finish has been fire tested for spread of flame in accordance with ISO5660 parts 1&2. Durolite FG3 has achieved a group 3 number
  • Products used in construction of all new buildings are required to meet the performance criteria set out for these different fire group numbers

Durolite HeatGuard

The technologically advanced Durolite HeatGuard range is specially designed to reduce the heat transmitted into the building through natural lighting sheets while still providing a high level of light. The higher the number the less heat it transmits.

  • Durolite HG4 and Durolite HG8 have infrared reflecting additives in the gel coat which reduce the heat transmitted without losing light transmission. When this energy efficient product is used as roofing or cladding in commercial buildings, costs for cooling and lighting are reduced
  • Durolite HG4 is 28% more efficient in reducing heat whilst still letting natural light through
  • Durolite HG8 is 36% more efficient in reducing heat whilst still letting natural light through than an opal tinted sheet

Scope of Use

Dimond Natural Lighting translucent sheeting products are manufactured to the requirements of AS/NZS 4256.3.1994 in a range of profiles, sheet thicknesses and sheet compositions to meet the light transmission, wind load and durability requirements for their intended use as Natural Lighting in roofs, walls and fences of AS/NZS 4257.

  • Specific grades of product can be manufactured to support concentrated foot traffic loads, but the standard product range is not intended to support foot traffic
Statement of Building Code Compliance

Past history of Durolite use in New Zealand indicates that provided the Dimond Natural Lighting Systems are designed, handled, stored, used and maintained in accordance with the guidelines given in this manual they will meet the relevant performance criteria in Clauses B1, B2, E2 and G7.

In addition, fire compliance with Clause C criteria is achieved with Durolite FG products, tested to verification Method C. Durolite FG3 achieves a group Number 3.
