Description

The Aurora Pool Panel System is a compliant pool fence made from aluminium, designed to meet New Zealand Building Code requirements. It is available in various heights and offers options for in-ground or base plate installation.

The Aurora Pool Panel System is available in various finishes and colours, allowing for customisation to match architectural styles and personal preferences while retaining its visual appeal over time.

Key Features
  • Compliant with New Zealand Building Code requirements for pool barriers (NZBC F9)
  • Posts constructed from 6063-T5 aluminium
  • Available in heights of 1.2m, 1.5m, and 1.8m
  • Options for in-ground or base plate mounting
  • Designed for high-wind zones and varying environmental conditions
  • Maximum post spacing of 1.6m for structural integrity
  • Fixings must be 304 stainless steel or hot-dip galvanised, depending on the proximity to coastal environments
  • For timber deck installations, 190x45 SG8 boundary joists are required, with noggings placed within 150mm of each post
  • Fixing to timber decks requires 4 x M10 bolts with 50x50x4mm square washers on the timber side
  • Concrete installations require M10 threaded rods or concrete screws with a minimum 90mm embedment into 20 MPa concrete
  • Posts must be embedded in 'Good Ground' with a minimum 100 kPa allowable bearing pressure as defined by NZS 3604

Scope of Use
  • Ideal for use in private swimming pools, spas, and associated outdoor areas, enhancing safety while maintaining aesthetic appeal.
  • Suitable for residential pool fencing applications, compliant with NZBC F9 requirements for pool safety barriers.
  • Designed for high-wind zones, making it appropriate for coastal and elevated locations where wind loads are a consideration.
  • Applicable in seismic zones, ensuring stability and safety during seismic events.
  • Effective in various corrosion zones, with recommended fixings based on proximity to saltwater, including C2 to C4 classifications.
  • Various styles and colours are available to fit different landscaping designs.
Limitations on Use
  • Must be installed according to the manufacturer's specifications and NZ Building Code requirements, particularly for structural integrity in high-wind and seismic areas.
  • Requires installation in 'Good Ground' with a minimum 100 kPa allowable bearing pressure, as defined by NZS 3604. Not suitable for areas with poor soil conditions without proper engineering assessment.
  • Should be installed with recommended fixings, specifically 304 stainless steel or hot-dip galvanised fasteners, to ensure corrosion resistance based on environmental conditions.
  • Maximum panel height is 2.1m; panels taller than this may require additional engineering assessments and approvals.
  • Not suitable for environments with exposure to harsh chemicals that could compromise material integrity without protective coatings.
  • Compatibility with specific infill materials should be verified; the system is designed for use with approved infill options to maintain safety and compliance.
Statement of Building Code Compliance
  • B1: The system has been designed to meet structural performance requirements for vertical and horizontal loads, ensuring safety and stability in high-wind and seismic conditions. Evidence of structural integrity is backed by engineering assessments and compliance with relevant standards.
  • B2: The materials used, specifically 6063-T5 aluminium and the recommended fixings, provide a durability of at least 10 years when maintained according to the manufacturer's guidelines. The system is designed to resist corrosion in specified environments, and appropriate maintenance schedules are outlined.
  • F2: The product is free from hazardous materials as outlined in NZBC clause F2. The manufacturing process and material selection ensure that the Aurora Pool Panel System does not contain substances that could pose health risks to users or occupants.
  • F9: Means of restricting access to residential pools
In-Service History

Numerous installations in private swimming pools and spas have been completed, demonstrating compliance with safety regulations and performance standards. These installations have been in service for over five years, with ongoing positive feedback regarding durability and safety.

The aluminium has been installed in coastal locations where high-wind and corrosion resistance are critical, successfully performing in these challenging conditions.

Other Performance Attributes

The aluminium material is resistant to rust and corrosion, requiring minimal maintenance. Regular washing and inspection can ensure longevity and aesthetic preservation without the need for repainting or extensive upkeep.

Designed to withstand impacts, the panel system maintains structural integrity under normal usage conditions, making it suitable for high-traffic areas.

The materials used in the Aurora Pool Panel System are engineered to resist degradation from UV exposure, preventing color fading and material brittleness over time.

The product is manufactured using recyclable materials, contributing to environmentally friendly practices. The longevity and low maintenance needs also reduce resource consumption over the product’s lifecycle.
