Launched part way through 2021, iBuilt’s Multistrut floor joist system provided an innovative solution to a national timber supply shortage during Covid. Now two years on, MultiStrut joists are as popular as ever and have even been developed further — with an optimised web pattern improving performance and now with a singular end trim block. The single trimmable block reduces installation time further while improving joist alignment on site.
MultiStrut joists are manufactured at IBuilt’s Auckland facility. They are manufactured in two depths, 240 and 300mm, in lengths from 1.8m to 6.0, and in 150mm increments. The 150mm increments result in minimum construction waste on site.
Another feature of the MultiStrut joist is the open web design that provides complete and unrestricted access for services such as plumbing, electrical and ducting. The open web design makes them extremely light, and when combined with the single trim block, it makes them efficient to install.
MultiStrut joists have proven to be a very popular option, with many builders that were previously IBeam users now preferring MultiStrut.
MultiStrut is a key component to IBuilt’s midfloor design and supply service. Working with IBuilt’s design team, a full midfloor layout design with PS1 can be developed that includes an itemised schedule of products including the joists, beams, perimeter members and hardware. This is all quoted and supplied through the builder’s merchant of choice.
IBuilt carry a full range of engineered timber products that includes Multistrut joists, Hyne 15C Glulam, and Nelson Pine LVL. For further information on any of IBuilt's products please call 0800 022 352 or visit www.IBuilt.co.nz.
