Tony Pilkington from Sketch Architecture says they did not want a repeat of these weathertightness issues and therefore sought out a trustworthy cladding system and brand.
“A full-system warranty from one company was the first thing that attracted us to James Hardie,” Tony says. “Plus the client liked a block look and Scyon Stria Cladding’s horizontal lines gave this effect. Both products are also suitable for a 30-minute fire-rated system which is a common requirement when re-cladding and extending multi-unit townhouses.”
The re-cladding project saw Scyon Linea Weatherboard painted in brown and Scyon Stria Cladding painted in blue as a feature between the two. The flat roofs and enclosed balconies were also refurbished.
“Both products were easy to install with Scyon Stria Cladding being quicker than other cladding options. As the board is 405mm wide, the wall height gets covered very quickly,” Tony says.
