Increasing Construction Efficiency with Rigid Air Barrier

This is due to the fact that building underlays alone do not provide the required protection from the elements.

An economical solution to speed up the completion of residential building work is to replace the traditional building wraps with HomeRAB PreClad Lining. Installed 3.5mm thick, HomeRAB can be left exposed to external elements for 90 days and also provides enough structural bracing on its own to meet the general bracing requirements necessary for the external walls of a house.

“This is the most practical solution I have seen that provides us bracing and enhanced weather protection, whilst maintaining significant economies against alternative products. We can start working within the building soon after we have enclosed it with HomeRAB PreClad Lining,” says Steve McMillan of Carpe Diem Construction, a group home builder in Christchurch.

"We can now save up to 10 days per house and can also stick to our building schedules as the work is not affected by any delays. This was highlighted in our recent Kaiapoi Smarter Small Home build where construction progressed quicker than neighbouring building projects.”

Dale Geck from ProClad adds, “the installation of cladding over HomeRAB PreClad Lining is a breeze – it doesn't warp or distort, no matter the weather, therefore it is our preferred rigid air barrier.”

HomeRAB PreClad lining is a breathable, water repellent rigid air barrier that is suitable for use on houses up to and including VH wind zones.
