THE CLIENTS
As both clients are brand / graphic designers, the overall look of the kitchen was always going to be very important. They have firm ideas of what they like (and what they don't). So while they were keen on a clean, white overall look, they didn't want it to be sterile or soulless. With two small kids it needed to be very practical — useable and durable — and all within a relatively modest space and budget.
THE KITCHEN DESIGNER
This is where Maggie McGuire, a very experienced kitchen designer, comes in. While Maggie has designed a lot of top-of-the-line kitchens, she enjoys the challenge of delivering a great outcome — a gorgeous looking kitchen that works well and is built to last — for clients with more moderate budgets.
To meet the brief, Maggie included the floor to ceiling cupboards against one wall, which contain a Glacier White Corian benchtop for additional workspace, plus room for all the appliances. These are all hidden away when the doors are closed.
THE CORIAN ISLAND BENCHTOP
The island benchtop was designed to be the 'hero' of the kitchen. 19mm thick Glacier White Corian was selected to provide a streamlined profile that aligned with the sleek 'white on white' design.
A Corian 965 contemporary sink was also used to complete the seamless look. Corian not only looks great, but is super tactile, hygienic and durable. A perfect choice for all the family to use with confidence.
THE BENCHTOP FABRICATOR
Given the importance of the benchtop, it was critical to use a great fabricator. All Corian Fabricators must be authorised, and CMAKK in Albany were very involved with the project, making smart suggestions that reduced the cost while not compromising on the look.
THE END RESULT
A stunning kitchen that totally meets the challenging brief. And very happy clients who love using their new kitchen.
