Autex Supplies Premium Acoustics for New-Build School

With over 1600 students and 200 staff, it's no surprise the designers of newly-built Wolfreton School, England thought long and hard about how best to keep the acoustics under control.

"The clients' brief was to provide good-quality, Class A product wall panels, which not only met the acoustic requirements, but would also be aesthetically pleasing," explains Jonathan Hope, Commercial Director of John Atkinson Interiors.

The classrooms, atrium and sports hall needed to be furnished with top quality acoustic wall panels that complemented the school's minimalist, modern aesthetic. As John Atkinson Interiors already had a good relationship with Autex, they recommended Quietspace Panel to the building company, BAM Constructions.

"Quietspace Panel with Vertiface wrap was the obvious choice for various reasons," says Hope. "These include the range of colours available, the ability to have bespoke sizes made to suit the spaces, the professional and proactive attitude of the Autex team and the finish and quality of the product."

Quietspace Panel is a lightweight and highly durable, premium interior acoustic panel. Celebrated for excellent sound absorption, Quietspace Panel provides beautifully balanced acoustics that are well suited for busy school environments.

For this particular project Quietspace Panel was wrapped in Vertiface; a decorative wall covering fabric. As the school's colours are varying shades of blue, it made sense to use similar Vertiface colours for the interiors. 'Civic' has been used in the classrooms and atrium for a visually discreet acoustic effect, while the juxtaposition of 'Atlantis', 'Electric Blue' and 'Porcelain' panels lend the sports hall a modernist appeal.

David Thomas, the Construction Manager of BAM, has been so impressed with Autex's products and services that he has started to recommend them to other clients. "Our experience of Autex was very positive," he says. "We have already recommended this product to the BAM business and Autex is now being used on a number of our sites."

Thomas continues by saying the school's acoustics have garnered much praise — "Since the school went into operation we have received numerous compliments on its acoustic properties."
