When Continental Cars opened their new Ferrari showroom in Newmarket, they required an entrance mat tough enough to handle the rolling loads of cars. They selected the Shuttle matting system by New Zealand-owned Advance Flooring Systems for its looks and high performance; it has been a proven performer in a number of vehicle showrooms.
Shuttle features a patented aluminium grid, with interlocking modules that maintain their structure under intense compression. It is engineered not to buckle or twist with heavy rolling loads.
The grid design not only creates strength in all directions, but also cleans off shoes in all directions, making it ideal for open-plan spaces where people (and vehicles) approach from any angle. Lineal matting systems, by comparison, are designed for lineal foot traffic — either way in a single direction. Shuttle can be used in both situations, but comes into its own in large public spaces, maintaining a consistent visual appearance and handling multidirectional traffic.
Advance Flooring use polyamide carpet inserts for maximum water absorbency; the synthetic fibre can absorb up to 5.17 litres of water per square metre. This ensures a maximum amount of water is drawn off people's shoes and car wheels, keeping surrounding smooth floor surfaces as dry and safe as possible.
Shuttle's patented modular grid system was developed specifically for lobbies and entrances where design and performance are critical. It has all the attributes required of a high-end Ferrari showroom.
