ALUCOBOND PLUS Cladding System
Description

ALUCOBOND PLUS consists of two aluminium cover sheets and mineral-filled core. Alucobond has used over 50 years of experience to develop unsurpassed levels of paint finishes and flatness. ALUCOBOND PLUS, has a dynamic range of colours, excellent formability and weather resistance, allowing the designer complete freedom of creativity. It has been developed as a rigid and, at the same time, flexible fascia material for architecture and design.

The surface sheet of ALUCOBOND PLUS is finished in a factory-applied fluoropolymer (PVDF) high-performance coil coating in accordance with EN13523. This international standard ECCA Quality Label and Voluntary Specification demands high-quality production facilities and the highest grade polymers. Alucobond has a significant Standard Colour Range. There also offer industry-leading paint technology in special finishes such as Terra, Spectra and Anodised Look. Non-standard colours or finishes to customers selection will be subject to minimum order quantities.

Limitations on Use

The Building Agency Alucobond® Cladding System has been appraised for use as a drained and ventilated external wall cladding for buildings within the following scope:

  • the scope limitations of NZBC Acceptable Solution E2/AS1, Paragraph 1.1 for timber-framed buildings; and,
  • constructed with timber framing complying with the NZBC; and,
  • subject to specific structural engineering; and,
  • with a risk score of 0-20, calculated in accordance with NZBC Acceptable Solution E2/AS1, Table 2; and,
  • situated in NZS 3604 Wind Zones up to, and including, Extra High; and,
  • with a building height of ≤ 10 m; and,
  • where the cladding incorporates Alucobond® Plus panels, it is located 1 m or more from the relevant boundary and,
  • where the cavity is drained and ventilated at least at every second-floor level or 10 m height, whichever is the lesser.
Statement of Building Code Compliance

The Building Agency Alucobond® Cladding System, if designed, used, installed and maintained in accordance with the statements and conditions of this Appraisal, will meet or contribute to meeting the following provisions of the NZBC refer BRANZ Apparaisal 528:

  • Clause B1 STRUCTURE: Performance B1.3.1, B1.3.2 and B1.3.4. The Building Agency Alucobond® Cladding System meets the requirements for loads arising from self-weight, earthquake, wind, impact and creep [i.e. B1.3.3 (a), (f), (h), (j) and (q)].
  • Clause B2 DURABILITY: Performance B2.3.1 (b) 15 years. The Building Agency Alucobond® Cladding System meets this requirement.
  • Clause C3 FIRE AFFECTING AREAS BEYOND THE FIRE SOURCE: Performance C3.5 The Building Agency Alucobond® Cladding System can contribute to meeting this requirement.
  • Clause E2 EXTERNAL MOISTURE: Performance E2.3.2. The Building Agency Alucobond® Cladding System meets this requirement.
  • Clause F2 HAZARDOUS BUILDING MATERIALS: Performance F2.3.1. The Building Agency Alucobond® Cladding System meets this requirement. 
In-Service History

ALUCOBOND® is the world market leader for aluminium composite panels. Since the introduction on the market in 1969, their panels have been used above all in architecture and for corporate identity programmes, particularly for façades, and wall cladding.
