SmartVent Positive3 Standard Home Ventilation System
Description

The Positive3 is SmartVent’s go to positive pressure home ventilation system that uses a network of wireless temperature and humidity sensors to combat condensation and humidity in winter with add-ons for reducing overheating in summer. Ideal for renovations or in homes with acceptable exhaust air pathways, this home ventilation system can be installed in properties of up to 560m².

Key Features
  • Delivers fresh filtered air to homes, removing VOCs (volatile organic compounds), viruses, pollens, CO₂, condensation, and excess humidity
  • Suitable for renovations, new-builds*, standalone homes, and terraced housing (*check acceptable airtightness considerations in newer builds)
  • Temperature and humidity-based automation via three temperature and humidity sensors (including two wireless sensors for install flexibility)
  • Automation and dew point controls to effectively manage internal moisture, condensation, and overheating
  • Protect homes against the harmful effects of mould and excess internal moisture
  • Low temperature protection designed to aid comfort by reducing fan speed below a set temperature
  • User friendly operation via wall controller and app with boost control
  • Filter change alerts
  • Energy efficient EC fan technology for cost effective operation
  • Acoustically insulated ducting for quiet air movement
  • Thermally insulated ducting for efficient heat transfer
  • F7 grade filter, with HEPA or carbon filter alternatives available
  • Full custom ventilation system design support
  • Compatible with the full range of SmartVent comfort add-ons
Scope of Use

The SmartVent Positive 3 is ideal for most homes including renovations. For newer properties passive air pathways should be included to effectively channel moist air out of the home.

Home ventilation systems are ideal for areas with environmental conditions that necessitate closed windows. This includes medium to high background noise areas, or regions with strong odours.

Suitable for:

  • Homes of up to 560m²
  • Standalone homes
  • Terraced homes
  • Low rise apartments
  • Retirement homes
  • Student accommodation
  • Up to 3 storey dwellings (design dependent)
  • All New Zealand climate zones, but ideal for warmer regions.
  • Integrating with ducted or high-wall heat pumps
  • Installation within roof cavities
  • Easily expandable via the SmartVent design service
Limitations on Use
  • Must be installed in accordance with the installation instructions and recommendations made by SmartVent.
  • Not suitable for larger commercial properties.
Statement of Building Code Compliance

The SmartVent Positive 3 is designed to comply with NZ Building code, although correct design and installation is required in order to meet these standards.

The acceptable solutions for G4 (G4/AS1) outlines specific ventilation requirements in homes. If natural activities or environmental conditions produce any of the types of air pollution outlined in NZBC G4 3.3 , mechanical ventilation is required.

Additionally; as per table 2 in NZS4303:1990, private dwellings require 0.35 air changes per hour, but no less than 7.5 L/s per person, if openable windows aren’t suitable.

Other Performance Attributes

System filters: All SmartVent systems are supplied with an F7 filter, which is capable of capturing up to 90% of 0.4 micron particles such as fine pollens, dusts and other allergens from the air. High quality HEPA filters are also available, which can capture particles 0.04 microns in size, an ideal solution for asthma and allergy sufferers. For environments with strong odours carbon filters can be fitted.

Comfort add-ons:

Flexi Air Source: Ideal for taking advantage of summer cooling, a flexi air source enables the Positive3 home ventilation system to bypass the heat recovery core, keeping incoming air cool.

Tempering Heater: SmartVent tempering heaters are inline heaters which gently warm air as it passes through the system. Not suitable as a replacement for heating within a home, a tempering heater will make the incoming air more comfortable.

Heat Transfer: Ideal for transferring warmth from one hot room, like a lounge with a fireplace, to another cold room.

Warranty:

All SmartVent systems feature a 5 year warranty.

Note that the product must be operated and maintained in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions contained in the operating & installation instructions provided with the product. The warranty on the entire system is void if non-genuine SmartVent parts (including but not limited to; controller, filter, duct, fan(s) and grilles) are used as this may affect performance.

Filters should be changed every 6-18 months, depending on usage and environmental conditions.
