Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP)
Description

Simpson Strong-Tie® Composite Strengthening Systems (CSS) are designed, tested and manufactured to offer high-performance solutions and lasting results. CSS products are efficient fibre reinforced polymer (FRP) strengthening solutions used to increase or restore the load-carrying capacity, ductility, and seismic resistance to a variety of structures.

State-of-the-art composite strengthening systems meeting or exceeding industry standards.

Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP) Systems are simply defined as high-strength and lightweight reinforcements created by combining carbon or glass fibres bonded with adhesive resins. The utilisation of FRP strengthening systems have become increasingly popular in construction and retrofit applications, specifically in ageing, damaged or overloaded concrete structures.

Key Features

In many cases, FRP is the most economical choice given the reduced preparation and labour costs. FRP systems can usually be installed without taking the structure out of service.

  • Economically increase capacity without significant weight or mass
  • Extremely high tensile strength
  • Lightweight and user-friendly installation
  • Non-corrosive
  • Low aesthetic impact
  • Compatible with many finishes and protective coatings
Scope of Use

Our line of CSS products provides structural strengthening solutions for:

  • Seismic Retrofit: Shear Strengthening, Displacement/Ductility, Life Safety
  • Damage Repair: Concrete structures that become damaged over time, Deterioration/Corrosion, Blast/Vehicle Impact
