Silent Wall Bytum — Acoustic System for Standard Timber Construction
Description

The Silent Wall Bytum is a soundproofing and waterproofing bituminous membrane made from elastoplastomeric bitumen, coupled with a double polypropylene coating. With a high surface mass of 6 kg/m² and minimal thickness, it is designed to reduce airborne noise transmission and provide effective moisture protection.

Ideal for use in counter walls and false ceilings, it enhances acoustic performance in various building applications.

Key Features
  • High surface mass: 6 kg/m², enhancing soundproofing capabilities.
  • Material: Made from elastoplastomeric bitumen with a double polypropylene coating.
  • Minimal thickness: Ensures effective soundproofing without taking up much space.
  • Soundproofing and waterproofing: Reduces airborne noise transmission and provides moisture protection.
  • Versatile application: Suitable for counter walls and false ceilings.
  • Ease of installation: The pre-cut removable film simplifies the installation process.
  • Tested performance: Verified by the Free University of Bolzano according to EN ISO 10140-2 standards.
Scope of Use
  • The Silent Wall Bytum is designed for soundproofing and waterproofing applications in building construction.
  • Its high surface mass and minimal thickness make it ideal for reducing airborne noise transmission and providing moisture protection.
  • This product is particularly suited for use in counter walls and false ceilings, where space is limited but high performance is required.
  • It is suitable for residential, commercial, and industrial environments, ensuring enhanced acoustic comfort and durability.
Limitations on Use
  • Not suitable for high-temperature environments: The bituminous material may degrade under extreme heat.
  • Avoid use on uneven or rough surfaces: Proper adhesion requires smooth, clean surfaces.
  • Not recommended for areas with high mechanical stress: Excessive movement or pressure can compromise its integrity.
  • Limited outdoor exposure: While it can be used outdoors, prolonged exposure to harsh weather conditions may affect its performance.
Statement of Building Code Compliance

The Silent Wall Bytum complies with the following New Zealand Building Code performance clauses:

  • Clause B2 Durability: Ensures the product will remain effective for the intended life of the building.
  • Clause E2 External Moisture: Provides a reliable barrier against water penetration,
    preventing moisture ingress.
  • Clause G6 Airborne and Impact Sound: Enhances acoustic performance by reducing noise transmission through walls and ceilings.

Other Performance Attributes
  • Non-toxic: Made from elastoplastomeric bitumen, it does not contain harmful substances.
  • Versatile: Suitable for both horizontal and vertical surfaces, indoors and outdoors.
  • Enhanced vibration absorption: Ideal for timber-to-timber installations to prevent vibration transmission.
  • Tested performance: Verified by the Free University of Bolzano according to EN ISO 10140-2 standards.

Warranty

The Silent Wall Bytum comes with a standard warranty that ensures the product will perform as specified under normal conditions of use. For maintenance, it is important to:

  • Inspect regularly: Check for any signs of damage or wear, especially after extreme weather conditions.
