LGH-RVS Lossnay Heat Recovery Ventilation for Wet Areas — Residential & Commercial
Description

The in-ceiling LGH-RVS Lossnay Sensible Heat Recovery Ventilation range brings fresh, filtered air in and draws stale air out from high-humidity areas such as bathrooms, kitchens and laundries. The LGH-RVS is most suited to commercial projects.

As an energy reclaim mechanical ventilation system, the Lossnay LGH-RVS Series uses the residual heat from the outgoing stale air to pre-condition the incoming fresh air, which allows buildings to maximise efficiencies whilst maintaining healthy indoor air quality by keeping COand humidity levels low.

Features include an integrated bypass damper for free cooling, optional CO2 sensor control, and easy control interlock with Mitsubishi Electric Mr Slim and City Multi Ducted Air Conditioning systems. Available in three sizes 139 l/s, 222 l/s and 278 l/s (on highest fan speed).

Add Optional Lossnay Wi-Fi Control

The LGH-RVS Series can be integrated with a Lossnay Wi‑Fi Control adapter for ease of control access via the Mitsubishi Electric Wi-Fi Control App, which makes operation available remotely too.

Advanced Lossnay Wi-Fi Control shows by how many degrees Lossnay is pre-warming or pre-cooling the incoming fresh air in real‑time. The App will also proactively remind you when it is time to clean your filters to maximise both cost efficient operation and health benefits.

With the option of an additional CO2 sensor, CO2 levels can be viewed in real-time making it ideal for schools, medical facilities and offices. It is well known that poor air quality impacts health, wellbeing and concentration levels. In conjunction with the CO2 sensor, the Lossnay LGH-RVS system intuitively adjusts airflow to ensure optimum air quality, no matter how many people are in the room.

Scope of Use

Suitable to provide balanced heat recovery ventilation for commercial applications with an additional advantage of being able to extract moisture laden air from wet areas such as bathrooms, kitchens and laundries.

  • Mounted horizontally in the ceiling
  • Exchangeable Spigot connections to suit complex site installs
  • Multidirectional single drain connection
  • Available in three sizes 139 l/s, 222 l/s and 278 l/s (on highest fan speed)

Typical applications include but are not limited to:

  • Hospitals and age care facilities
  • Educational facilities
  • Student accommodation
  • Commercial spaces such as office, library and community halls
  • Hotels and motels
  • Recreation facilities such as gyms
Limitations on Use
  • Not suitable to be vertically mounted. Units are required to be mounted horizontally in the ceiling for condensate to be easily drained
  • Not suitable to be mounted outdoors or in wet/humid areas as IP rating is too low to handle moisture
  • Not suitable for the unit to be placed in areas that are exposed to higher temperatures (40°C or higher), naked flames or in an environment with combustible fumes
  • Not suitable to be used without a plumbing connection to drain the condensate
  • Not suitable to operate the bypass function when heating in winter as this will cause condensate to drip from the unit
Statement of Building Code Compliance
  • Meets H1/VM3 ventilation system control requirements and exceeds the condition of minimum sensible heat transfer effectiveness of 60%
  • Units are designed to meet and comply ISO 16494 for thermal efficiency performance standard.
  • All Lossnay units hold an ESS supplier declaration of compliance, in accordance with regulation 101A of the electricity regulations 1997
  • Models are designed to meet and comply with G4 regulation and AS NZS 4303:1990*
*Please note the appropriate model needs to be sized and selected by the Architect, Engineering Consultant or Designer of specific projects to further ensure it complies with relevant standards
In-Service History

Mitsubishi Electric Lossnay was first introduced in New Zealand in 1996. Since then, Lossnay units have been installed in a wide variety of NZ commercial and residential buildings.

The Lossnay LGH-RVS range is the newest addition to the Mitsubishi Electric Lossnay Fresh Air Heat recovery Ventilation range, introduced to the New Zealand market in 2022. See Lossnay commercial ventilation case studies.

Other Performance Attributes

High Temperature Exchange Efficiency

  • The unit being equipped with non-permeable counter-flow type heat exchanger allows recovery up to 93% efficiency. (Thermal efficiency listed is based for a specific model (LGH-50RVS-E) running on low speed.)

Low Noise Operation and Increased Energy Efficiency

  • Starting from a super quiet 18dB(A) (on lowest fan speed), the LGH-RVS Series operates with incredibly low noise thanks to a specialised sirocco fan produced by Mitsubishi Electric. This unique fan balances airflow and static pressure to minimise noise levels. The series also incorporates a high-efficiency motor to reduce power consumption. (*On lowest fan speed, measured at 1.5m from the centre of unit in an anechoic chamber.)
  • Optional Silencer Ducts can reduce noise further when a quiet solution is paramount.

Easy Installation and Drain Piping

  • The light chassis of the LGH-RVS Series can provide a huge advantage in terms of cost and safety of installation.
  • The unit features one drain pipe terminal for both supply air (SA) and exhaust air (EA). A condensate trap is not required as the LGH-RVS unit features an internal backflow prevention device and an inclined drain pain, which not only helps with installation, but also reduces the risk of mould and odour.

Optimised Control with Optional CO2 Sensor / BMS

  • Optimise airflow for each application with the new remote controller, PZ-62DR-E.
A Mitsubishi Electric CO2  sensor connected directly to the LGH-RVS unit optimises the fan speed according to the levels COdetected, ensuring indoor air quality is maximised and total heat exchange efficiency is improved. There are two sensor options available, a wall mounted type or built-in. The units can also have the speed controlled via BMS using 0-10V signal from the BMS.

Bypass and Night Purge Function

  • When indoor temperatures are hotter than desired the LGH-RVX Lossnay unit can intelligently bypass the heat exchanger and bring in colder fresh, filtered air without recovering heat energy (only when outdoor temperatures are colder than the indoor air).

Combine Lossnay with Mr Slim Ducted Systems

  • LGH-RVS can be integrated with a Mitsubishi Electric ducted air conditioning system. The ducted system provides heating and cooling while the Lossnay ventilator brings in fresh air into the building while expelling the stale air at the same time.
  • The heat recovery ventilators help to reduce the load on the ducted air conditioning system.

Mitsubishi Electric Wi-Fi Control Compatibility –

  • The units can be integrated to a LAN module for ease of control access via the Mitsubishi Electric Wi-Fi Control App, which makes operation available remotely too.

Warranty and Maintenance

  • 5 year parts and labour warranty
  • The units are expected to be serviced regularly as per the maintenance cycle
  • Following are the recommended frequency only as they differ based on usage and outdoor conditions:
    • Lossnay Core (Washable) — once per 2 years or 6000 hours
    • Filters — once a year or 3000 hours
