A-lign Vertical Weatherboard
Description

A-lign Vertical Weatherboard is a cavity based shiplap external wall cladding solution. This engineered vertical pine cladding system offers a different architectural look than traditional horizontal weatherboards. The vertical lines a suitable for both contemporary designs and in replicating period aesthetics. 

The solution consists of vertically fixed shiplap timber boards, ventilated cavity battens, flashing and accessories, and is finished with a minimum of 2 coats of 100% acrylic house paint. Components are pre-primed and undercoated, with the option of factory top coating.

Scope of Use

Appraised as an external vertically fixed wall cladding solution for buildings within the following scope:

  • Constructed with timber framing in accordance with the scope limitations of nZBC Acceptable Solution E2/AS1, Paragraph 1.1; and,
  • Constructed with steel framing subject to specific engineering design with building height and floor plan are scope limitations in accordance with NZBC Acceptable Solution E2/AS1, Paragraph 1.1; and,
  • With a risk score of 0-20, calculated in accordance with NZBC Acceptable Solution E2/AS1, Table 2; and,
  • Situated in NZS 3604 Wind Zones up to, and including 'Extra High'.
Limitations on Use
  • Vertical installation only
  • Suitable for vertical, flat surfaces only
  • For use with aluminium and timber winder and door joinery that installed with vertical jambs and horizontal heads and sills
  • Designs for commercial use should consider impact protection such as bollards and barriers for vulnerable areas
  • Stainless steel fasteners required for extended serviceable life in Coastal and Corrosion zones (Zones C and D) — see BRANZ Appraisal

Statement of Building Code Compliance

In the opinion of BRANZ A-lign Vertical Shiplap Weatherboard Cavity Solution, if designed, used, installed and maintained in accordance with the statements of Appraisal 929 (2017), will meet the following provisions of NZBC:

  • Clause B1 STRUCTURE: Performance B1.3.1, B1.3.2 and B1.3.4. The A-lign Vertical Shiplap Weatherboard Cavity Solution meets the requirement for loads arising from self-weight, wind and impact (i.e. B1.3.3 [a], [h] and [j])
  • Clause B2 DURABILITY: Performance B2.3.1 (b), 15 years and B2.3.2. The A-lign Vertical Shiplap Weatherboard Cavity Solution meets these requirements
  • Clause E2 EXTERNAL MOISTURE: Performance E2.3.2. The A-lign Vertical Shiplap Weatherboard Cavity Solution meets this requirement
  • Clause F2 HAZARDOUS BUILDING MATERIALS: Performance F2.3.1. The A-lign Vertical Shiplap Weatherboard Cavity Solution meets this requirement
