ARDEX Butyseal is appraised for use as waterproofing membranes for buildings (roofs and decks) with timber supporting structures designed and constructed in accordance with the NZBC, with normally flat or pitched roofs constructed to drain water to gutters and drain outlets complying with NZBC, with substrates of plywood or sheet and with decks that have a maximum size of 40m².

ARDEX Butyseal is also appraised for use as waterproofing membranes for external reinforced concrete and plywood roofs, pedestrian decks and balconies up to three storeys with a maximum height from ground to eaves of 10m and with a floor plan area limited only by seismic and structural joints. It is also suitable for external reinforced concrete and plywood roofs, pedestrian decks and balconies subjected to maximum wind pressures, with reinforced concrete structure and timber supporting structures designed and constructed in accordance with the NZBC, and with normally flat, curved or pitched roofs constructed to drain water and gutters and drain outlets complying with NZBC.

• Can be adhered directly to failed bitumen

• Roofs and decks must be designed and constructed with no steps within the deck level, no integral roof gardens, and no dowpipe discharging directly onto the deck
• The membranes must be installed by trained applicators, approved by ARDEX New Zealand Limited

ARDEX Butyseal, assuming use, install and maintenance stated within the ARDEX Butyseal Datasheet, will meet the following provisions of the NZBC:

• Clause B2 Durability: Performance B2.3.1 (b) 15 years.
• Clause E2 External Moisture: Performance E2.3.1 and E2.3.2.
• Clause F2 Hazardous Building Materials: Performance F2.3.1.

• Resists ageing from heat, sunlight and ozone damage 
• Excellent gas impermeability and toughness
• Remains flexible at low temperatures 
• Butyseal is unaffected by thermal shock and UV rays
• Extra strength, high puncture, tear and impact resistance
• Cost effective-The fibre backing provides a protective underside barrier that allows application over a wide range of substrates, including some existing membranes and bitumen
