Hydrotech Monolithic Membrane
Description

Hydrotech Monolithic Membrane 6125 (MM6125) is a thick, tough, flexible, self-healing membrane for use in roofing applications. MM6125 is a special formulation of refined asphalts and synthetic rubbers.

MM6125 is suitable for horizontal applications, such as; plazas, parking decks, tunnels, bridges and mud slabs; as well as vertical applications, such as foundation wall waterproofing and planters. MM6125 is perfect for new construction. It is applied directly to the structural deck (the best place for a waterproofing membrane), it is monolithic (seamless) and bonds to a variety of substrates. It is also extremely well suited for renovations and rehabilitation work.

Key Features
  • MM6125 is a thermoplastic material — one component, 100% solids, No solvents means no on-site cure failures, no two part mixing and no VOC restrictions
  • Conforms to all surface irregularities and bonds tenaciously to an acceptable substrate (i.e., concrete, steel, etc.) eliminating lateral migration of water
  • Completely monolithic — no seams
  • MM6125 is typically installed at 5.5mm thick in the Fabric Reinforced Assembly (this is more than three times thicker than most other liquid waterproofing membranes). Thickness is an important benefit in that MM6125 exhibits the ability to self-heal and better accommodate developing cracks in a concrete substrate.
  • Can be installed at temperatures as low as -15 °C (provided the substrate is clean, dry, free of snow and frost)
  • Detailing is simplified, with triple protection at all critical locations
  • Ideal for dead level installations; no slope required, just positive drainage
  • Developed to perform in a wet (submerged) environment
  • Tie-ins from one days work to the next is easy, perfect for phased construction
  • MBIE (NZBC) approved for zero fall roofs, plaza decks, and green roofs — providing significant architectural and construction cost savings
  • MM6125 has been used overseas in the marketplace for 50 years without any material failures
Scope of Use

1. Hydrotech (MM6125) membrane system has been assessed as a waterproofing membrane solution for use in cold roof and deck assemblies, and Protected membrane roof and deck (PMR) assemblies.

2. The system must always be protected as follows:

  • a) On PMR assembly: one of the following overlays must be installed over the insulation layer
    • Pavers or floating timber deck on pedestals
    • Ballast (graded stones)
    • Green roof
    • Concrete topping slab
  • b) On a trafficable cold roof/deck assembly: one of the overlays described in 2(a) must be used:
  • c) On a non-trafficable cold roof/deck assembly or where only maintenance related traffic is expected: the membrane must be protected with a layer of Hydroflex 30 or Casali Olympia.

3. The system will resist the effects of wind uplift likely to occur in practice. The effect of wind on the overlays described in 2(a) falls outside the scope of this certificate.

4. The system may be used on buildings within the following scope:

  • a) On new buildings or existing buildings in all exposure zones, excluding microclimates, as defined by NZS3604: 2011.
  • b) On reinforced concrete substrates with any pitch including zero pitch defined as less than 1:100/0.5, gutter fall must be maintained at a minimum of 1:100/0.5

See CodeMark certificate for full information.

Limitations on Use
  • MM6125 should not be used on cellular concrete or light weight insulation concrete
  • Considered a 'positive side' side waterproofing and should not be installed in a 'negative side' application (i.e. the inside of a foundation wall)
Statement of Building Code Compliance

If designed, used, installed and maintained in accordance technical literature and manufacturer's instructions Hydrotech Membrane  (MM6125) System will comply with or contribute to comply with the following provisions of the NZBC:

  • Clause B1 STRUCTURE: Performance B1.3.1, B1.3.2, B1.3.3 (b), (c), (f), (g), (h), (m), (n), (q), B1.3.4 (b), (c), (d), (e)
  • Clause B2 DURABILITY: Performance B2.3.1 (a) where ballast, green roof or concrete topping slab are used and B2.3.1 (b) where not, B2.3.2 (b)
  • Clause E2 EXTERNAL MOISTURE: Performance E2.3.1, E2.3.2, E2.3.7 (b), (c)
  • Clause F2 HAZARDOUS BUILDING MATERIALS: Performance F2.3.1

See CodeMark certificate for full information.

In-Service History

Hydrotech's Monolithic Membrane 6125, the original rubberised asphalt membrane, has been entrusted for more than 50 years with keeping high profile structures across the country and around the globe watertight. With more than two billion square feet of MM6125 installed on projects in over 36 countries, Hydrotech is recognised as the leader in the waterproofing industry.
