Acoustic Control for Ohakea Air Terminal

T & R Interior Systems would like to congratulate Architype - Shadbolt Architects and Beca Architects for their recent win in the Commercial Architecture category of the NZIA Local Architecture Awards.

This award was for the Ohakea Air Movements Terminal in the Manawatu region. T & R is proud to have provided the ceiling tiles and CBI grid for this award-winning design.

The entire suspended ceiling consists of the C Max 50mm Combo tile which combines a glass wool face with a plasterboard backer; making it acoustically very absorbent while at the same time providing sound transmission loss.

The high absorption quality (NRC 0.9) reduces the reverberation time and prevents sound energy from lingering. This is essential for large commercial spaces.

The sound transmission class (STC 26) achieved by the plasterboard backer reduces the amount of plane noise and rain drum that can be heard through the ceiling.

The C Max combo tile has a white monolithic face.

Architecture: Beca Architects & Architype Shadbolt Architects.
Construction: Ebert Construction Limited.
Ceiling Contractor: Prestige Ceilings Ltd.
