Kaynemaile Architectural Mesh — Exterior
Description

Kaynemaile architectural mesh works to keep buildings cool by providing superior ventilation and solar shading.

Kaynemaile significantly reduces both radiant heat through direct sunlight (EMR) and thermal conductive heat from entering the interior of a building by up to 70%.

A chainmail fabric consisting of interlinked rings connected by liquid-state assembly to form a flexible and seamless mesh. It is made from high grade engineering polycarbonate and used in the architecture and design industry.

Key Features
  • Ability to let daylight in and manage the passive solar gain
  • Maintaining visual transparency from the inside to outside view
  • Provides superior ventilation and solar shading
  • Excellent airflow up to 80%
  • Reduce radiant and conductive heat from entering the interior of a building by up to 70%

Scope of Use

Kaynemaile Architectural Mesh for exteriors is perfect for beautifying and protecting buildings and their occupants from the elements.

Kaynemaile Architectural Mesh has been used in:

  • Commercial facades
  • Residential facades
  • Fencing and privacy screening
  • Multi-storey carpark facades
  • Utility enclosures
  • Kinetic applications

Installation:

  • Strong and lightweight (3kg/m²)
  • Simple attachment systems for effective installation
  • Can be stretched over a frame to execute complex three-dimensional shapes

Fixing screens:

  • Standard exterior flat screens = stainless steel tubes with low-profile-track (LPT) side fixings
  • Full fix framed system = LPT on all sides
  • Some applications may have combinations of LPTs and stainless steel tubes
  • Exterior screens a predominantly full-framed fix
  • Kinetic designs are achievable
Limitations on Use
  • Exterior Colours: Bronze, Copper, Steel, Obsidian Black, Translucent Black, Silver, Champagne, Custom Colours
  • Custom colours only avaliable for large projects
Statement of Building Code Compliance
  • Kaynemaile Architectural Mesh has achieved a Group 1S in the AS/ISO 9705 room test with a SMOGRA of 0.5m2/s2. UL94 FR-V0 material at 3mm that is rated self-extinguishing
Other Performance Attributes

Kaynemaile Architectural Mesh is strong and robust, liquid state assembly means each link is manufactured without any joins. The seam free links are interconnecting, production via this patented technique delivers an architectural mesh material of unlimited size.

Sunlight (UV) and exterior weathering:

  • UV stabilised Makrolon Polycarbonate.
  • As the mesh is not a metal compostion it will not suffer form corrosion as those products do.
  • Ideal for coastal environments.
  • Independently lab tested by Building Research Association of New Zealand (BRANZ).
  • Results show minimal structural/tensile deterioration of the mesh after 2000 hours of continuous testing in New Zealand’s harshest UV conditions—some of the toughest in the world.
  • All colours are light fastened, mineral-based pigments to maintain colour and recyclability. Real world full external exposure testing after 8 years, shows 95% original strength.

Tensile strength and impact resistance:

  • Astron burst testing with a point load area of approx. 32mm on small 140 x 140mm samples show a peak resistance of 279kg.
  • Note: The accumulated strength of seamless mesh increases proportionately with the size of the panel

Drag coefficient:

  • Cd = 0.8, which is 40% less than an equivalent two-dimensional or woven mesh.
  • Full wind tunnel test results for all angles available.
