VELUX Skylights a High R-Value, H1 Solution

Skylights are credited for providing daylight into a building, yet they are perceived to be an inferior energy efficient daylighting solution. But not all skylights are the same – VELUX skylights have excellent thermal performance and published R-values.

The R-values of the VELUX range of skylights, which are all double-glazed, exceed the requirements of the H1 clause in the Building Code (minimum R-value for complete unit is 0.42 m2K/W).

In fact, VELUX skylights have R-values higher than most double-glazed windows in New Zealand (NZS 4218:2009, p.38).

Daylight is an invaluable and unrivalled source of energy efficiency with no ongoing financial costs and no environmental costs.

With VELUX skylights, designers can take advantage of their energy efficiency – not to mention aesthetic qualities – confidently knowing that thermal resistance will not be compromised.
