PVF2 is a wet paint alternative to powder coating and contains solvents and VOC's. Owing to the solvent component, PVF2 has application risks for the applicator and is not as friendly on our environment when compared to using a Fluoropolymer powdercoating system. Our recommendation to the client was to change the specification to call for a powdercoating system utilising PVF3 Fluoropolymer powdercoating technology. The PVF3 system proposed contains 100% Fluoropolymer resin with no solvent content, this powdercoating system is safe for applicators and is significantly more environmentally friendly.
The PVF3 solution that the client chose is Dulux Fluoroset FP in a satin finish.
As no other resins are incorporated, a 100% fluoropolymer resin system such as Dulux Fluroset FP maintains an intrinsic hardness which makes it extremely suitable for use in high traffic zones irrespective of exposure to sunlight.
Dulux Fluoroset FP has been formulated specifically for architectural applications to deliver superior colour stability, gloss retention, mar resistance and general serviceability. It also exceeds the strict international standard AAMA2605-98 and is the only chemistry to do so. When applied by a Dulux Powder & Industrial Coatings NZ Registered Applicator on pretreated aluminium, Dulux Powder & Industrial Coatings NZ offers a 20 year warranty on film integrity and a 20 year warranty for colour and delivers outstanding whole of life costs.
