The beauty of custom-made products is the ability to come up with a product solution for virtually any customer request or scenario.
HomePlus has a nationwide network of clever manufacturers — many of whom have a building background — who can work alongside architects and clients to come up with custom-made product solutions.
For example, earlier this year architect Bob Burnett designed the first NZ 10 star Homestar rated home. Working with Murray Hartley from HomePlus Christchurch, he designed wardrobe doors with a true wow factor. They chose bright red and bright blue Seratone infills for the doors and Murray organised the door trims to be finished in a matching powder coat colour for perfect detailing.
Alternatively, in a brand new home in Gisborne, the homeowners found the sloping roof skylight was great for natural light, but unbearably hot in the afternoon sun. Searching for a shading solution, Tim Smith from HomePlus Gisborne was the only company that could help. Tim custom-made a blind using a Solarzip drop down awning, which is commonly used in outdoor settings. The Solarzip awning was chosen for its encapsulated welded side zips that could be fixed onto the sloping window edges. With automation, this screen opens and closes with the touch of a remote button and the customer is thrilled.
Again in Gisborne is a home that was designed around a very unique front garden display — a Californian desert scene. Practical outdoor details, such as fencing and gates had to blend into the design and not draw the eye from the main display. Finished in a Silver Pearl powder coating, the pedestrian gate at the home's side entrance is unobtrusive and perfect for keeping Poppy the dog in.
With custom-made home improvement products, clients are really only limited by their imagination.
