The creation of portable houses is increasing as the mantra ‘more houses at a faster pace’ is becoming a common storyline around New Zealand. With this is mind, three key elements are sought after when building a portable house: stability, cost and style. PanelLine MDF provides these features and more.
IBS PanelLine is a 9mm premium grade, golden-edge medium density fibreboard (MDF) that is manufactured in New Zealand to the highest standards of quality and consistency. Utilising advanced manufacturing techniques and production control, PanelLine MDF is created out of high quality Radiata Pine.
Portable houses have challenges with structural integrity. Most plasterboards would not have the strength to withstand the strains of moving a portable house, however, PanelLine offers the stability of a P21 tested board. This means when installed as recommended, it has adequate strength to withstand the maximum likely wind and earthquake loads found in New Zealand.

PanelLine MDF comes in both W and V groove profiles, allowing for full boards to be inserted — therefore saving time and remaining cost effective. PanelLine retains the look of wood lines running its length to give a natural wood feel to builds. It is also possible to use half boards to produce a dado style. With superior tongue and groove edges, PanelLine MDF’s profiles also provide a clean fit with no obvious joins.
PanelLine MDF can be used as a ceiling line, full or part wall lining, and has a smooth surface making it ideal for painting to give a quality textured finish. It also has high impact resistance and can be worked easily with all conventional woodworking machines and hand tools.
PanelLine is cost effective, is certified low chemical emissions and is harvested right here in New Zealand from sustainable resources. It is also BRANZ Appraised (BRANZ Appraisal No. 779).
