Plankwall Grooved Wall Panels
Description

Plankwall Grooved Panels are produced locally made, pre-finished MDF wall linings, made exclusively with sustainably grown Nelson Pine. The panels feature modern 100mm or 150mm V- or classic 80mm W-groove profiles on the face side only. Suitable for interior wall applications in residential and commercial environments.

Available in a range of panel sizes:

  • 9mm or 12mm thick (16m & 18mm available for cabinetry)
  • 1200mm x 2400mm, 2745m, 3660mm & 2860mm

Scope of Use
  • Plankwall Grooved Panels are for use as wall and ceiling linings in interior areas that are dry and protected.
  • The panels can be used as bracing, if they are designed in accordance with Section 5 of NZS 3604:2011 and the tested bracing assemblies.
  • They may be used vertically or horizontally, except where the panels are used to provide bracing capacity, the panels must be installed vertically.
Limitations on Use
  • The panels must not be subjected to sustained wetting or used in high moisture or high humidity environments, such as bathrooms, kitchen cabinets that are exposed to steam, commercial kitchens, or internal pool enclosures.
  • The building must be closed in and weathertight prior to the installation of the panels.
  • Plankwall Grooved Panels must not be installed where the maximum moisture content of the timber framing exceeds 18% moisture content.
Statement of Building Code Compliance

The panels are manufactured in accordance with AS/NZS 1859.2.  

Where installed in accordance with the Plankwall Grooved Panels Design and Installation Guide, the panels will meet the requirements of:

  • Clause B1 Structure: B1.3.1, B1.3.2, B1.3.4, and B1.3.3 (j) where used for lining and B1.3.3 (f, h, j) where used for bracing
  • Clause B2 Durability: B2.3.1 (a) (bracing) and B2.3.1 (b) (lining)
  • Clause F2 Hazardous building materials: F3.2.1.
In-Service History

Plankwall Grooved Panels have been used extensively throughout New Zealand since 2000 in residential buildings, as well as in retail and commercial applications.

Warranty

Plankwall V-Groove panels, as supplied by Nelson Pine as GoldenEdge MDF panels, and used and installed correctly as per the Usage & Installation guide, carry a 12 month warranty against faulty materials or workmanship by the manufacturer to the extent of replacement of the product but not including any indirect or consequential loss subject to the provisions of the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993.
