Cabot's Cabothane Clear Oil Based
Description

Protect and enhance timber grain with Cabot’s Cabothane Clear, a hard wearing varnish suitable for use on timber doors, windows, trim and furniture.  Cabothane Clear is resistant to stains and withstands abrasions, such as scratches or scuffing.  It also contains UV absorbers, meaning it protects areas such as window and doors which are exposed to indirect sunlight. 

To change the colour of the timber, use Cabot’s Interior Stain Oil Based and topcoat with Cabothane Clear.

  • Sizes: 250ml, 500ml, 1L, 4L, 10L
  • Sheen: Matt, Satin, Gloss
  • Coverage: Up to 16m²/L (depends on porosity of timber)
  • Recoat Time: 6 Hours*

*In conditions of 25C and 50% relative humidity. Cooler temperatures or higher humidity affects recoat time.

Scope of Use
  • Timber doors, windows, trim and furniture
  • Suitable to protect areas which are exposed to indirect sunlight (Note: For surfaces subject to extreme UV exposure, use Cabot's Exterior Clear)
Limitations on Use
  • All timings quoted at 25°C and 50% humidity. Cooler or humid conditions may require longer
  • Do not apply this product in temperatures below 10°C or above 35°C, or when rain or heavy dew is expected during the drying period
  • If using outside in hot temperatures, do not apply in direct sunlight. Cool the timber by lightly dampening with water and coat in the shade
  • Note: For surfaces subject to extreme UV exposure, use Cabot's Exterior Clear
Other Performance Attributes

Maintenance:

Once coating has worn and deteriorated, it's time for a re-coat.

  • 1. Thoroughly clean the surface with Cabot's Floor Clean and allow to dry. Sand with 180 - 240 grit sandpaper and remove all traces of sanding dust
  • 2. Apply one coat to a small test area. Allow to dry for 6 hours. Press sticky tape firmly to the surface and pull off quickly. If the coating comes off, sand back to bare timber
  • 3. If coating adheres well, sand the entire area with 180 - 240 grit paper for good adhesion, remove dust, then follow application instructions
