Fire Rated Windows Provide Vision and Versatility

NZ Fire Doors’ windows and door vision panels feature an optically clear glass manufactured by Schott Glass in Europe, which sustains fire integrity and insulation values of up to -/60/60. The optically clear glass not only provides vision for escape from fire through a passage way, but can also let light and vision into the room.

Far from the traditional Georgian wired glass or narrow strips of glass in fire doors and windows, the optically clear glass can be supplied in large panes up to 3000 x 1500mm depending on the required fire rating. This gives architects greater flexibility when designing for safe and compliant commercial buildings. NZ Fire Doors can provide all necessary documentation and fire tags for NZS4520 and NZBC compliance.

The fire-rated glass is supplied in conjunction with solid timber frames and doors of the same fire rating to provide a complete fire solution. As NZ Fire Doors are the NZ agents for stocking and processing Schott insulated fire rated glass, this allows greater control over the manufacturing process, resulting in shorter lead times.

NZ Fire Doors’ fire rated glass can be installed in a number of NZFD products including:

  • 30 and 60 minute solid core timber doorsets
  • Interior fire windows up to 60 minutes
  • Interior timber framed glazed partitions
  • Glazed sidelights

Fire rated glass can be incorporated into a double glazed unit if additional thermal, X-ray, security or acoustic performance is required.
