MAXEdge Now BRANZ-Appraised for 90mm Straight Edge Bolt Fixings

MAXRaft is committed to offering products that simplify workflow while delivering exceptional performance. They are thrilled to announce the latest improvement to their MAXRaft insulated concrete slab systems — an upgrade to their MAXEdge perimeter insulation for use with 90mm framing which has been BRANZ appraised with straight bolt fixing.

MAXEdge is MAXRaft’s innovative perimeter L-shape insulation — a critical component for MAXRaft, MAXRaft Plus+, MAXSlab and MAXSpan insulated flooring systems. It sits inside the formwork of each of MAXRaft’s systems, providing slab edge insulation and footing insulation in one, and most importantly, acting to create a thermal break to prevent heat loss at the edge of the slab.

Historically MAXEdge has had angled fixing with 90mm frame, but in an effort to save time and costs on site, the MAXRaft team has adjusted the system to allow for straight bolt fixing. The improvement simplifies installation — which can be completed by builders or MAXRaft installers, allowing for fewer bolts at wider centres and faster fixing.

“Essentially, we’ve adjusted the taper from 20mm wide to 15mm wide which allows us to use straight bolt fixing,” explains Henry Edney, BDM, MAXRaft. “We then completed BRANZ testing for MAXEdge with the straight bolt fixing, to prove it has the same performance — so we can now offer this option with all of our systems.”

Backed by BRANZ testing and thermal modelling, MAXRaft insulated flooring systems are a smart option for achieving thermal performance. “Our systems are tried and tested over the years, we’ve got thermal modelling that demonstrates R values for meeting H1 standards and they’re all fully engineered — so from an architect’s perspective they know they are getting a product that will perform and be structurally sound,” says Henry.

Different options are available for different R-value requirements, ground conditions, budgets and use with underfloor heating to help you meet H1 requirements, with MAXRaft’s online R-value calculator providing a quick and easy way to select the right product for the project.

And now with straight bolt fixing for MAXEdge with 90mm frame, installation of MAXRaft’s high-performance insulated flooring systems is even easier — offering added convenience and versatility on site.
