For New Zealand’s highest and most remote building, the base building at the Remarkables Ski Field in Queenstown, exposure to the elements is a major concern. Kingspan met the challenge with the CodeMark certified Trapezoidal Roof and Wall panels and Architectural Wall Panels that deliver a weather tight building envelope along with meeting the high levels of thermal and structural performance needed in this extreme environment.
Kingspan panels are typically tested up to 3.6kPa for normal conditions (ULS) and up to 15kPa for cyclonic conditions (ULS). These limits easily exceed the requirements of NZS3604, including High (1.16kPa), Very High (1.5kPa) and Extra High (1.82kPa) wind zones.
In addition, Kingspan panels offer a high performance PIR core: in this project a 100mm core providing an R-value of 5.35 was utilised. The foam formulation is developed by Kingspan’s own chemical engineers and allows us to offer the highest R-value per thickness when compared with similar products.
With regard to fire performance, the Kingspan panels used are FM Global certified, are classed as type A external cladding and can be used on all buildings, including those over 7m in height.
The Remarkables project is also covered by the Kingspan Total Panel guarantee.
