In full-scale test evaluations for areas subject to severe seismic motion, the Armstrong Seismic Rx Suspension System prevented ceiling panels from falling in forces up to 2.5 G Force. The Armstrong Seismic Rx System allows the use of standard Armstrong grid and wall angles in seismic compliant installations.
Three patented components make up the Armstrong Seismic Rx Suspension System; the Seismic Main Tee Joint Clip, Seismic Cross Tee Joint Clip and BERC2 Clip. The overall installation creates a narrow, low cost, sleek aesthetic solution. The system eliminates installation and colour matching of large custom made wall angles.
Use of the Main Tee Joint clip creates an expansion joint that is not visible from the floor. This part is easily installed in minutes at the main tee splice and maintains the integrity of ceiling modules while allowing for full acoustical ceiling panels at the joint.
The Cross Tee Joint Clip provides a clean look, but also eliminates the need for additional hanger wires too.
The BERC2 Clip allows for up to 50mm of movement between the main tee, cross tees and perimeter wall angles, and also eliminates visible pop rivets through the wall angle.
BERC2 Clips were recently used on the Westpac Takutai Square project in Auckland’s Britomart Square.
