Wool Wall & Ceiling Service Cavity Insulation
Description

Terra Lana service cavity insulation is designed to fill service cavity spaces in walls and ceilings adding R-value to the thermal envelope, while still allowing the passage of wiring and plumbing services.

Using timber battens installed perpendicular to studs creates a Service Cavity for plumbing and cabling, maintaining the integrity of the primary insulation layer, while reducing thermal bridging.

Terra Lana's Truss Roof Blanket insulation is manufactured from New Zealand wool along with thermal bonding technology using polyester to create a robust, structurally stable product that will never slump nor lose its loft over the lifetime of the building. It is BRANZ appraised, and comes with a 50 year warranty to meet the durability requirements of the New Zealand Building Code.

  R-value Thickness Centres
Ceiling Service Cavity R0.9 35mm 600mm
Ceiling/Wall Service Cavity R1.2 45mm 600mm
Ceiling Service Cavity R2.4 90mm 600mm

Key Features
  • Moisture control — Terra Lana insulation is hygroscopic (can absorb and release moisture vapour) so it can help to mitigate condensation risks and mould formation within buildings whilst still maintaining thermal performance.
  • Warmth — Wool has a complex natural cellular structure that provides superior warmth in all climates, as it buffers temperature changes. Like wearing wool clothing, it improves the comfort of homes and buildings, requiring less energy to heat or cool them than synthetic insulations
  • Acoustic — Wool has a natural crimp to its structure, which provides excellent acoustic properties. Testing provided by Marshall Day Labs has proven Terra Lana insulation reduces noise transfer through walls, floors, and ceilings of residential and commercial buildings.
  • Customisation — All widths and lengths can be customised to suit the specific framing requirements of each project.
  • 50 year warranty — the combination of New Zealand wool and thermal bonding technology using polyester creates a robust, structurally stable product that will never slump nor lose its loft over the lifetime of the building. Meets the durability requirements of the NZBC.
  • Local and recyclable — new wool is sourced from local Canterbury farms, and recycled wool from carpet manufacturers' pre-consumer waste. All Terra Lana offcuts can be returned and recycled in their low-carbon manufacturing plant.
  • Safe — Terra Lana is safe to touch and can be handled without protective clothing, and has negligible VOC emissions
  • Declare Red List Free — certified toxin free

Ceiling:

  • Service Cavity insulation blanket rolls are fixed by staples between cavity battens across ceiling rafters
Limitations on Use
  • Must be installed in accordance with the Installation Guide and Terra Lana technical literature
  • Must be stored under cover and in dry conditions, and in a way that avoids excessive compression
