Description

Solatube 750DS Daylighting System Closed Ceiling is a Tubular Daylighting Device delivery natural daylight from the roof to the ceiling point diffuser.

Scope of Use

This product is designed to be installed into residential and commercial buildings. Installed through a BRANZ appraised roof installation flashing system, the DS Solatube kit is connected from the roof penetration through to the ceiling by a highly reflective aluminium tubing, which has a reflectivity of 99.9% and a U value of 0.29 and an R value of 3.46.

The BRANZ appraised flashing system is designed to be fit for long run roofing, concrete and terracotta tiles, and pressed metal tiles. The flashings have been BRANZ appraised.

This product can be used in any building zone in New Zealand, and is impervious to wind, rain and seismic activity.

Limitations on Use
  • This product needs to be installed by a certified, licensed Solatube installer
  • The flashing must be installed on a roof pitch no less than 5°. Where the roof pitch is less than 5°, a tray over flashing system must be installed up to the ridge.
  • The Solatube 750 DS-O model is intended for lighting spaces with open ceilings while the Solatube 750 DS-C model is designed for dropped ceiling applications

In-Service History

The DS Solatube does not require any maintenance other than the removal of the internal lighting diffuser for periodic cleaning.

Other Performance Attributes

Solatube Daylighting Systems reject nearly all UV wavelengths. What makes this possible is the technology built into the rooftop dome. Constructed of acrylic, Solatube domes reject nearly all UV wavelengths, possess special UV inhibiters that block 100% of UVB and UVC rays and 98.5% of UVA rays.
