Nuraply TPO
Description

Nuraply TPO is ideally suited to low slope roofs and decks, the TPO (thermoplastic polyolefin) membrane offers heat welded seam integrity, energy savings and an exceptional finish. It has intensive UV and heat resistance, meaning it's extremely durable and effective in facing New Zealand's varying weather conditions.

Nuraply TPO is an innovative membrane that is highly flexible, puncture resistant and is 1.5mm thick. It comes with a range of approved accessories to complement the TPO and produce a fully warranted system. TPO systems combine the best performance characteristics of thermo-plastics (e.g. PVC) and elastomerics (e.g. EPDM) to ensure optimum results of installation and performance.

Scope of Use

Nuraply TPO Roof and Deck Membrane Systems are for use as roof and deck waterproofing membranes on buildings within the following scope:

  • the scope limitations of NZBC Acceptable Solution E2/AS1, Paragraph 1.1; or,
  • the scope limitations of NZBC Acceptable Solution E2/AS1, Paragraph 1.1 with respect to building height and maximum floor plan area when subject to specific structural design; and,
  • with building structures designed and constructed to meet the requirements of the NZBC; and,
  • with substrates of plywood or suspended concrete slabs; and,
  • with minimum falls for roofs of 1:30 and decks of 1:40
  • with decks that have a maximum area of 40 m2; and,
  • situated in NZS 3604 Wind Zones, up to, and including Extra High

Nuraply TPO Roof and Deck Membrane Systems are also for use as roof and deck waterproofing membranes on buildings within the following scope:

  • subject to specific structural and weathertightness design; and,
  • with substrates of plywood or suspended concrete slab; and,
  • situated in specific design wind pressures up to a maximum design differential ultimate limit state (ULS) of 3 kPa; and,
  • with the weather-tightness design of all junctions for each specific structure being the responsibility of the building designer.

Roofs and decks waterproofed with Nuraply TPO Roof and Deck Membrane Systems must be designed and constructed in accordance with the following limitations:

  • nominally flat roofs and decks and pitched roofs constructed to drain water to gutters and drainage outlets complying with the NZBC; and,
  • with no integral roof gardens; and,
  • no steps in level within the deck area, no integral roof gardens and no downpipes direct discharge to decks; and,
  • with deck membranes continually protected from physical damage by a pedestrian protection system. The design and construction of the substrate and movement and control joints is specific to each building, and therefore is the responsibility of the building designer and building contractor.
Limitations on Use

Not recommended for:

  • Decks where the membrane is directly walked upon. Membrane must be protected with a floating tile or timber overlay on Nurajacks.
  • Large Green roofs instead utilise Nuraply 3PG, double layer membrane.
  • Areas that are exposed to excessive heat are not suitable for this membrane.

Nuraply TPO has to be installed by a Nuralite Approved applicator.
