Vented Non-Combustible (NC) Batten
Description

Dimond's, Vented Non-Combustible (NC) Batten is a galvanised steel top hat profile that is roll-formed with punched holes for use by fasteners while also enabling ventilation airflow to pass through the profile with minimal pressure drop.

The Vented NC Batten is intended to provide a means of forming a ventilated cavity behind a wall cladding and is suitable for use where a non-combustible cavity batten is required (such as for commercial buildings and apartment blocks).

  • Available in 1.45mm steel thickness — provides sufficient fastener pull-out resistance for affixing cladding material
  • Supplied in standard 3600mm lengths
Scope of Use
  • Intended for use across at least 2 spans between structural frame members where it is to be fastened to each support member
  • Provides a means of forming a ventilated cavity behind a wall cladding and is suitable for use where a non-combustible cavity batten is required — for commercial buildings and apartment blocks
Limitations on Use
  • Each Batten must be fixed over at least two spans with two fasteners per support member as used with the correct purlin material:
    • Fixing to timber: 12g Type 17 or Roofzips with 35mm embedment
    • Fixing to Steel at least 1.2 mm thick: 12g Teks or Roofzips
  • Maximum loads given apply to both inward and outward load cases and are limited by cladding screw fastener Design Capacity of 1.5 kN per fastener (including Capacity Reduction Factor of 0.5).
  • Spans of 1000mm or greater exceed a deflection limit of span/150mm
  • If subject to a foot traffic point load of 1kN, the span must not exceed 900mm
Statement of Building Code Compliance

The product will, if employed in accordance with the supplier’s installation and maintenance requirements, assist with meeting the following provisions of the building code for a period of 15 years:

  • Clause B2 Durability: Performance B2.3.1
  • Clause E2 External Moisture: Performance E2.3.1, E2.3.2
  • Clause F2 Hazardous Building Materials: Performance F2.3.1
