Reduce Construction Waste with Eco-Packaging by Vynco

Creating a sustainable future for the planet is a must, not only for this generation but for future generations to come. Making small changes in one’s lifestyle can have a direct impact on the sustainability of the Earth’s natural resources, including altering methods of transportation, energy consumption, and diet. However, the reduction of construction waste specifically, is one of the most crucial steps towards a more sustainable future.

With continuous development taking place globally, construction waste has quickly become one of the largest contributors to the world’s landfills. In an attempt to reduce the amount of construction waste in landfills, Vynco’s in-house team of engineers has researched and designed a unique packaging concept, where moulded fibre is used for packaging products.

Moulded fibre is made from recycled paper and cardboard, and is biodegradable, making it a great environmentally friendly and highly sustainable option. The moulded fibre packaging is also moulded to the shape of the product to hold it securely without the need for cardboard inserts. Vynco also no longer provides paper instructions in their packaging, instead referring contractors to Vynco’s website for installation instructions, further reducing the waste produced by construction and development projects.

Construction projects often require bulk amounts of the same product. This means buying in bulk and results in bulk packaging waste. However, with Vynco’s Eco-packaging McQueen or Jolie downlight, it is still possible to buy in bulk as both come in packs of eight, all made of moulded fibre without tape or plastic strapping.

To further reduce construction waste, Vynco is now also packaging new Urban Switchgear Range products in wood pulp tissue, unique in its “tea bag” style design. This wood pulp packaging is made from renewable, biodegradable and recycled material, making it a very sustainable alternative to traditional plastic packaging.

Vynco currently offers the Jolie downlight in moulded fibre packaging (Eco-packaging Jolie) as well as the McQueen downlight in moulded fibre packaging (Eco-packaging McQueen). Vynco will also be offering eco-packaging for the soon-to-be-released low-profile, Moss Sensor as well as the soon-to-be-released Diaz Step Light with three colour options available (white, black, and silver).
