Green roofs are also beneficial in reducing a building's heating and cooling consumption as they are proven to naturally regulate a building's temperature by acting as insulation.
Drainage of green roofs and ground floor perimeter gardens can be problematic because excess water can be difficult to manage during storms where quick evacuation is required. ACO’s ProfiLine is designed to protect buildings by collecting both water running down the façade and water that has accumulated on the roof surface, specifically above the waterproof roof membrane.
In heavy storm conditions, ProfiLine acts as a conventional surface water trench drain. As the soil is saturated during these events, water will only be collected through the grate. During light or recent rain, water will permeate through the channel walls and ProfiLine will perform as a subsurface trench drain system. Therefore the bias of one function over the other will depend on rainfall conditions and soil characteristics. The result in either case is to ensure water is directed where it is wanted to, where it can be managed.
