GIB Acoustic Systems: Noise Reduction Coefficients for Ceilings and Walls

GIB Quietline and GIB-Tone Quiet are available in a range of perforation patterns. Each pattern has been developed with a percentage of the face of the GIB plasterboard perforated, ranging from 10 — 20%.

Each pattern available in GIB Quietline and GIB-Tone Quiet has been tested so that it can be used with different cavities behind it (50 — 400mm) and used with or without insulation.

As can be seen in the table below, GIB Quietline and GIB-Tone Quiet allow for a required NRC to be achieved through the specification of:

  • The cavity above the ceiling or in the wall
  • The pattern (reflected in the percentage of perforation)
  • The inclusion or not of insulation

This means that there are multiple configurations which would provide the same acoustic result. In the below, it can be seen that there are multiple ways to provide an NRC of 0.65.
