Save Time with the VOLTEX Waterproofing System

The Covid-19 alert level restrictions have proven effective for stopping the virus in its tracks but as we are all too aware, they have also managed to do the same for most construction activity. Architects will now be searching for innovative ways to catch up on lost time; Allco VOLTEX waterproofing membranes may be the answer.

Allco VOLTEX can save time as it can be installed on damp substrates without a protective layer, as well as in harsh weather conditions, including rain or snow. There is no need for priming and it can be installed directly to compacted substrates without using a blinding concrete layer.

On vertical surfaces, Allco VOLTEX is mounted by nailing to concrete, and on horizontal surfaces, it is simply laid directly on the ground. Utilising a proprietary needle punching process, the geotextiles form an extremely strong composite that maintains equal coverage of bentonite as well as protection from construction-related damage.

Allco VOLTEX contains zero VOC, can be installed in almost any weather conditions to green concrete, and most importantly, has proven effective on both new and remedial waterproofing projects worldwide.

Allco VOLTEX works by forming a low permeability membrane upon contact with water. When wet, unconfined bentonite can swell up to 15 times its dry volume. When confined under pressure the swell is controlled, forming a dense, impervious waterproofing membrane. The swelling action of Allco VOLTEX can self-seal small concrete cracks caused by ground settlement, concrete shrinkage, or seismic action. These are problems over which there is normally no control forming a strong mechanical bond to concrete when the geotextile fibres are encapsulated into the surface of poured-in-place concrete.

Allco VOLTEX is designed for below-ground vertical and horizontal structural foundation surfaces. Typical applications include:

  • Backfilled concrete walls
  • Earth covered roofs
  • Structural slabs and footings
  • Tunnels
  • Property line construction.
