As the country's largest manufacturer of aluminium windows and doors, APL is transforming almost 60 hectares at Hautapu, near Cambridge, into the region's biggest industrial park.
Stage 1 of the development is Building A, a 400 x 100m manufacturing facility whose entryways are protected by CoralTread entry matting from Advance Flooring.
"The key driver behind the project was to raise the profile of the APL brand and create physical transparency," say the architects, Jasmax. "The building’s form is punctuated with bold gestures that celebrate product development. A simple and strong palette of materials allows the quality of detailing to shine."
For APL, the factory should provide a second home to staff, set standards for corporations to follow, and target a 5-Star Green Star Built rating. To help achieve this, the architects selected CoralTread, which is Declare certified for sustainability.
In keeping with the scale of the building, CoralTread is laid in a large single width, with no seams or T-bars, creating a stylish first impression. With absorbent polyamide inserts set within an elegant, low-profile aluminium frame, CoralTread is available in eight colourways, and the aluminium can be anodised any colour to match.
CoralTread is highly slip resistant, reducing the risk of injury. As well as making entryways safer, the absorbent polyamide fibres trap more dirt and moisture than comparable materials. Because entranceways are the most trafficked area of any building, this ensures that interior floors are kept cleaner, saving on cleaning and maintenance costs. And because polyamide springs back after pressure, the weave remains open, providing sustained performance and visual appeal over time.
With more than 40 years’ experience, Advance are experts in providing entry matting that performs to the highest standards in every application.
