Which digital publications do architects find most helpful? And which social events are they most likely to attend?
In this seventh and final video of the series, Matthew Duder, EBOSS, looks at the events and digital publishing channels architects prefer, using key data from our Specifier Insights 2020 research — a study of the behaviour and preferences of 843 architectural practitioners. This video was originally part of a bonus session of our Specified 2020 annual conference.
BRANZ bulletin and EBOSS publications top the list for usefulness
This year we asked specifiers how helpful they find a range of channels in keeping them up to date. The BRANZ bulletin was the most valued publication with 87% of architects saying it is very helpful or somewhat helpful. This is followed by our EBOSS publications, EBOSSNOW and Detailed. Codewords and newsletters from particular suppliers are also considered helpful.
Focus on keeping specifiers up to date
When it comes to digital publications, focus on keeping specifiers up to date with useful information. Right now supply chain updates will be critical in giving specifiers confidence that products are available and can get to site in a timely manner.
In addition, updates on new products are always popular and case studies remain important in seeding ideas and demonstrating to architects that your products provide a solution to a particular design problem.
Design-focussed events the most popular
When it comes to social events, architects and designers tell us they are most likely to attend movie nights, lectures from visiting architects, and project/design tours — with between 76% and 88% saying they are either very likely or somewhat likely to attend each of these. These events all have a key focus on design that seems to be popular.
Recreating the ambience of events online
While we’re excited to see the emergence of physical events once more, online events will continue to be important. With Zoom fatigue setting in, the key factor here is engagement. We’d encourage suppliers to look at how they can take elements of popular in-person events like practice presentations, movie nights and design tours and package those into an enjoyable digital experience.
