Passive fire protection can be a detailed topic, however collaborating with market-leading pipe manufactures and suppliers in New Zealand to create trusted, tested systems is key for our industry. Allproof Industries recognises that staying at the forefront of fire testing requires continuous engagement with these partners, ensuring all system variations — including substrates, pipe types, and sizes — are rigorously evaluated.
As new pipe types emerge in the market, it is crucial to maintain up-to-date testing to address the unique requirements each type presents.
Pipe manufacturers provide pipe systems to cater to a wide range of potable water, waste and stormwater systems, therefore the requirement to have robust fire-tested systems when these pipes penetrate various substrates is crucial. Through experience in fire testing, we know all plastic pipes can perform differently in a fire situation. Some have a low melting point and begin to soften almost immediately; others will hold their form and start to conduct heat similar to a non-combustible pipe, which can cause the fire test results to vary. Ultimately, the rate that the plastic pipe is consumed in the test through the fire-stopping system significantly impacts the test results.
Allproof Industries collaborates extensively with New Zealand pipe manufacturers to ensure that our fire protection solutions are compatible with the wide array of pipe systems available. This collaboration allows us to cater to different pipe pressure ratings and pipe wall thicknesses, understanding how these factors impact the overall performance in a fire situation.
As active members of Master Plumbers, Allproof works closely with industry partners to provide solutions that interface with our systems along with other building elements across New Zealand’s construction sectors.
